Fishing Boats

Up the loch and down the loch
And all round about
The fishing boats on Fishing Day
Are all going out
Some of them are painted green
Some of them are pink
And they’re the ones that catch the fish
No matter what you think
They catch their fish
In gingham nets
And sail with velvet sails
And when they’ve finished catching cod
They’re going after whales
It’s a hard life of salty strife
And the windy winds give fright
But an eiderdown and a teddy bear
Will see you through the night
So drop your anchor pretty boys
And haul your catch ashore
And tell the folks on the harbourside
You’ll be going out for more
And tell them of the fashion fish
The strangest fish you’d seen
This big long and this big wide
And a rather fetching green
With lots and lots of crimson spots
From the tip of its nose to its tail
And they argued long
And they argued late
That it really was a whale
And round they’d strut
In their Gucci boots
With their chiffon scarves a flying
Daring anyone who had the balls
To accuse them all of lying
