Early one morning whilst leaning on a gate

I didn’t see the cows today

No swishing tail no hook of horn no moo

BUT I did see a Camel

A knock kneed grumpy Camel

Heading for the train station

I didn’t see the sheep today

No Bo no Peep no sheep

BUT I did see an Elephant

A big grey baggy Elephant

Heading for the bus stop

I didn’t see the pigs today

No curly tail no oink no grunt

BUT I did see a Giraffe

A stiff legged patchwork Giraffe

Heading for the airport

I didn’t see the chickens today

No cluck no flutter no egg

BUT I did see a Lion

A walking stalking Lion

Heading for the Co-Op

I didn’t see the ducks today

No waddle no paddle no quack

BUT I did see a Hippopotamus

A yawning wide mouthed Hippopotamus

Heading for the swimming pool

I didn’t see the dog today

No woof no wag no bark

BUT I did see a Rhinoceros 

A grumbling mumbling horned Rhinoceros

Heading for the taxi rank

I didn’t see the cat today

No purr no me no ow

BUT I did see a Bat

A pointy toothed Vampire Bat

Heading for the belfry

Sometime later, same place

Alas I didn’t see the knock kneed grumpy Camel

Holding out his train ticket

BUT I did see the cows today

Swishy tail chewy cud mooy moo

Heading for their pasture

Alas I didn’t see the great big baggy Elephant

Holding out his bus pass

BUT I did see the sheep today

Baa baa woolly baa baa

Heading for their fold

Alas I didn’t see the stiff legged patchwork Giraffe

Holding out his boarding pass

BUT I did see the pigs today

Curly tail snuffy snout oinky oink

Heading for their sty

Alas I didn’t see the walking stalking Lion

Holding out his dividend coupon

BUT I did see the chickens today

Clucky cluck pecky peck peck

Heading for their coop

Alas I didn’t see the yawning wide mouthed Hippopotamus

Holding out his Pool Membership card

BUT I did see the ducks today

Waddle waddle quack quack

Heading for their pond

Alas I didn’t see the grumbling mumbling horned Rhinoceros

Holding out his leg to hail a cab

BUT I did see the dog today

Woofy woof sniffy sniff wag

Heading for his kennel

Alas I didn’t see the pointy toothed Vampire Bat

Holding out an invitation to a late night party

BUT I did see the cat today

Purring and licking and tidying her fur

Heading absolutely no where at all

And neither am I.
